Labour release their manifesto for GE 2024

The Labour Party launched its 2024 general election manifesto today, presenting a comprehensive plan aimed at transforming the UK’s economy and public services. Key highlights include a pledge to maintain current rates of income tax, national insurance, and VAT, ensuring no tax increases for working people. The manifesto outlines significant investments in green energy and infrastructure, with the creation of 650,000 jobs and the establishment of Great British Energy to lead the transition to clean power.

Labour’s plan for the NHS focuses on reducing waiting times by introducing 40,000 more evening and weekend appointments each week, funded by cracking down on tax avoidance. The manifesto also includes measures to improve mental health services and recruit 6,500 new teachers to address staffing shortages in education. The party also plans to decentralize power by granting more authority to local mayors and combined authorities to stimulate local growth.

This manifesto represents a credible and fully funded plan for national renewal, aiming to rectify the challenges faced during 14 years of Tory chaos.
